Brad Pitt - Making Things Right

Let us be the ones who say we do not accept that a child dies every three seconds simply because he does not have the drugs you and I have. Let us be the ones to say we are not satisfied that your place of birth determines your right to life. Let us be outraged, let us be loud, let us be bold.”

Brad Pitt made his way into the world in late December 1963, shortly after the assassination of JFK. His family moved from Oklahoma to Missouri early in his life and Pitt grew up with two younger siblings, in a middle class home. He went on to college and a near-complete degree in journalism, choosing to leave school and head for California.

Now, in his mid-forties, Pitt is balancing his acting with his passionate social/political work, changing the world one family at a time.

As founder of  Make It Right Foundation New Orleans Louisiana, Pitt has devoted much of his time lately to helping families in the Ninth Ward, rebuilding homes and lives after the devastating effects of hurricane Katrina.  His devotion to the foundation and the people it helps has headed into the spotlight this year with many homes already completed and families getting ready to celebrate the holidays together.

Pitt speaks with great pride about this project and has been very public with his praise of the people and money that Make It Right Foundation has brought together for the rebuilding of this historic area of the country.

He narrated Rx for Survival: A Global Health Challenge, and combined his efforts in starting Not On Our Watch, with those of his Oceans co-stars, an organization dedicated to directing attention and resources to the prevention of mass atrocities.

It’s heartening to see today’s stars stepping up to the humanitarian plate and spreading the enormous wealth that Hollywood generates.  It’s heartwarming to see young popular actors grow into community-minded, forward-thinking, dedicated adults, intent on making the world a better place and with no personal agenda.

We’ve seen Pitt rise in Hollywood history to take his place among the leading men of film, secure World’s Sexiest on more than a few occasions and end up marrying the most beautiful woman in Hollywood who has a humanitarian heart, too. There is little doubt that his love for his own family has had a lot to do with Brad’s push for housing Katrina’s lost.

Whatever has compelled Pitt along this journey in his life, he’s most certainly not just another pretty face.  Brad Pitt is substance, innovation and passion rolled into one, helping families, AIDS victims, starving 3rd world communities and showing himself as the genuine article.

He’s giving back to the world.
