18 Acres and a Mule

Nov. 5 / 08

A Special Field Orders No.15, issued in 1865 by Gen. Sherman, gave 40 acres in the area of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida, to freed slaves following the civil war.  Although no mule was specified in the orders, the army may have distributed those as well.  Johnson revoked the order following the death of Abraham Lincoln and the phrase Forty Acres and a Mule has become synonymous with the lack of restitution for descendents of slaves.

Democratic Senator Barack Obama has become the forty-fourth president of the United States and the first African American to be elected to lead this country. The Mule comes to the White House. He and his family will live in the White House, set on 18 of garden and lawn, in Washington, D. C.

He and his ideals and his calm resolve will work tirelessly to bring this country back to the once-beacon it was. His actions will speak louder than his words ever could, but he’s a master orator and has taken his place in history and the heart of America.

Congratulations Mr. President

You’ve given this country the knowledge that anything is possible.
